Engaging a contractor to burn
Saturday, 11th December 2021
Fire may be used for many management purposes including hazard reduction, ecological management or restoration, cultural burning or agricultural activities. Irrespective of who is undertaking the burn or the purpose, all burning must be undertaken in accordance with the relevant laws, including matters such as safety, environmental and any other approvals.
Depending on the purpose of your burning activity you may want to seek assistance from your local volunteer brigade (contact your local fire district office), your neighbours or perhaps other fire practitioners. The NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW have collaborated to produce a factsheet offering guidance, should you choose to engage a private contractor to conduct any burning on your behalf.
